IDRAL, one of the first companies to join the ebf/unified water label commitment letter

A step forward to protect water At Idral we have always been committed to the environment and are constantly working to develop and produce taps and sanitary ware for public spaces that reduce water and energy consumption. This is why we decided to participate in the initiative promoted by EBF/ Unified Water Label to develop a unique agreement in the European plumbing sector on the criteria to be met to ensure greater product efficiency and therefore less water waste.

Why is saving water so important?

As Chiara Vasconi, Idral's Managing Director, explained in the post on the occasion of Water Day 2019, many institutions such as the United Nations are alerting us to the problem of water availability and the growing demand around the world for safe access to drinking water and a guarantee of good hygienic conditions. Through products that reduce water waste and offer maximum accessibility and hygiene, we want to help address these challenges.

So why did we sign the commitment letter?

Today EBF / Unified Water Label is actively engaged in the development of a Voluntary Agreement endorsed by the European Commission with strict criteria that are monitored and verified by Independent Inspectors. At Idral we wanted to take part in this ambitious project by signing the Letter of Commitment in support of such an Agreement because we are convinced that only by offering increasingly better and more efficient products we too can concretely contribute to making a difference in terms of environmental and energy savings.

Knowledge is power

It is imperative for us to communicate the characteristics of our products to our customers in a very transparent way, and Water Label allows us to do just that. Giving our customers the tool to choose products that meet the Agreement's recommended requirements is the starting point for influencing change. Consumers need to understand how much water is used by toilets, taps, showers and baths. Understanding how much water is used and wasted in different domestic uses makes a difference to energy bills and carbon emissions. In fact, the European Environment Agency states that over 15% of carbon emissions in Europe come from the domestic sector. Water is our future: let's work together to protect it.
