Tap spouts for professional kitchens: a guide to choosing
Tap spouts for professional kitchens

Idral tap spouts for professional kitchens: tall, swivel and pull-out.
In a professional kitchen, a tap is more than a point where water flows: it is a working tool. Filling a 50-litre pot, washing a worktop, rinsing vegetables or pre-rinsing dishes before loading the dishwasher. Each task has different requirements in terms of height, flow rate and water direction.
Professional tap spouts are designed to meet these needs. Unlike a domestic tap, a spout for a professional kitchen must provide suitable clearance, a wide swivel range, flow rates matched to the task and the ability to direct water where it is needed. These are complemented by pre-rinse spray units, specifically designed to clean dishes before they go into a commercial dishwasher.

What makes a professional tap spout different
A standard kitchen tap has limited height and a flow rate designed for domestic use. In a professional kitchen, the requirements are radically different.
Height — Commercial cooking pots, GN containers and washing tubs require tall spouts that allow even large vessels to be positioned easily beneath the water outlet.
Swivel action — A swivel spout can serve double sinks and adjacent worktops from a single water outlet. In kitchens with compact layouts, this versatility is essential.
Flow rate — Professional tasks demand higher flow rates than domestic use: filling quickly, rinsing effectively and pre-rinsing large quantities.
Durability — Materials such as chrome-plated brass and stainless steel provide a long service life under intensive use and constant exposure to heat and moisture.
Types: tall, medium-height and with pull-out sprays
Tall spouts
Tall spouts are the standard choice for professional kitchens in restaurants and canteens. Their height allows large pots, stacked GN containers and preparation tubs to fit beneath the water outlet. Available in fixed and swivel versions.
Medium-height spouts
Medium-height spouts are suitable for washing stations with limited vertical space, for example beneath an extractor hood or in preparation areas with overhead shelving. They offer a good balance between practicality and space requirements.
Spouts with pull-out sprays
The pull-out spray is the most versatile element of kitchen equipment. It allows water to be directed anywhere: pre-rinsing dishes, rinsing surfaces or filling containers positioned away from the spout. It is particularly useful at pre-rinse stations before the commercial dishwasher.
Dish pre-rinse spray units
The pre-rinse spray unit is specifically intended for cleaning dishes before they go into a commercial dishwasher. The Idral 09400 model is installed on wall-mounted taps or mixer taps and features a stainless steel spring that automatically returns the spray head to its resting position after use.
The spray head has a shower spray pattern and a lever-operated control for direct regulation of the water flow, plus a lock for continuous operation, useful during extended pre-rinsing. The spray head is protected by an impact-resistant rubber guard that increases its service life under intensive use. Height 900 mm, with a wall fixing kit included.

Idral swivel spout: model 02025
The model 02025 swivel spout is a deck-mounted model in the configuration known as "American style". Its swivel function allows water to be directed across the entire working area, covering double sinks and adjacent zones from a single installation point.
Made from high-quality materials to ensure a long service life, even under intensive use.
Key features:
- Swivel spout
- American-style model
- Deck-mounted installation
- Full coverage of the worktop
Materials: chrome-plated brass and stainless steel
Idral tap spouts are available in two main materials.
Chrome-plated brass — The most widely used material for indoor professional taps. Strong and durable, with a polished finish that is easy to clean. Suitable for most professional kitchens.
Stainless steel — For settings where corrosion resistance is a priority or where regulations require fully inert surfaces. Used in food production facilities, the pharmaceutical industry and kitchens with particularly high hygiene standards.
Pairing with foot-operated taps
The spout is the point where water comes out. But what controls the on/off function? In professional kitchens that require hands-free operation for hygiene, the ideal solution is to pair it with an Idral foot-operated tap.
The pedal controls the flow with the foot, while the spout directs the water where it is needed. Two components form an integrated system that keeps hands free and maintains hygiene throughout the working day.

Applications
Restaurants — Preparation stations, washing areas and dish pre-rinse zones. Tall swivel spouts for maximum versatility.
School and workplace canteens — High washing volumes require suitable flow rates and spouts that can withstand continuous use.
Catering and banqueting — Temporary or semi-permanent stations where installation flexibility is essential.
Food production facilities and bakeries — Environments where HACCP compliance requires inert materials that are easy to sanitise.
