What are the relevant regulations for the design and construction of barrier-free bathrooms?

Currently, the regulations for private and residential construction are regulated by DM 236/89; while Presidential Decree 503/96 regulates the rules for the elimination of architectural barriers in public buildings, spaces and services.

At what height do the grab bars fit in the shower?

According to Ministerial Decree 236/89, the prescribed installation height is 80 cm in relation to the shower tray; however, it is up to the designer to check any supplementary decrees for further specifications.

Why are there no wall fixings in the packaging of our aids?

Wall fixings differ according to the nature of the wall itself, so it will have to be the plumber or specialist installer who chooses the most suitable type of fixing to ensure correct installation and maximum safety.

How must a toilet be installed to be compliant for people with disabilities?

For correct installation of WCs and bidets, reference must be made to the applicable law DM 236/89 DPR 503-96. Suspended type WCs with front opening should preferably be provided, in particular the height of the bowl should be positioned at a height of 45 - 50 cm from the floor, the front edge at 75-80 cm from the rear wall, a distance already respected by monobloc type WCs, alternatively a rear wall should be provided to make up for the missing distance required by law.

At what height should the pneumatic button for the pot be installed?

It is advisable to position the pneumatic control at a height of 70 cm, which is easy to access even if there is a handle (80 cm).

At what height must a washbasin that complies with standards for people with disabilities be positioned? At what height should the drain be placed?

Installation should be done by positioning the washbasin top 80 cm from the floor; the drain does not have a regulated position, but it is preferable to install a flush-mounted or recessed siphon.

Can the washbasins be fixed to the wall or do they need brackets?
